Colombo: A delegation of 28 minority youths from diverse backgrounds across Sri Lanka participated in a five-day training programme on Innovative Leadership for Organization Growth and Excellence (ILOGE) at the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), Noida, from 21 to 25 September 2026.

NIESBUD is a premier organisation under India’s Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, engaged in training, consultancy and research aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and skill development.

The programme provided the participants with an opportunity to strengthen their leadership capabilities and gain practical exposure to contemporary approaches to leadership, organisational development and community engagement.

The training covered a range of subjects, including innovative leadership, entrepreneurship and local economic development, self-leadership, design thinking, leadership styles, coaching and mentoring, emotional intelligence, climate leadership and community resilience.

As part of the programme, participants also prepared Back Home Action Plans, enabling them to identify ways of applying the knowledge and skills gained during the training within their respective organisations and communities.

The participants also undertook a cultural immersion study tour to Agra, where they visited the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. The visit provided an opportunity to experience India’s rich cultural heritage while facilitating informal interaction and cross-cultural learning.

The programme forms part of India’s ongoing efforts to strengthen capacity building and skills development among Sri Lankan professionals and youth.

The initiative follows the announcement made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his State Visit to Sri Lanka in April 2025, offering 700 customised training slots annually for Sri Lankan professionals.
