Yevan David joins Van Amersfoort Racing for 2027 FIA Formula 3 season

Colombo, Sri Lanka, October 2026 - Sri Lankan FIA Formula 3 driver Yevan David has chosen Van Amersfoort Racing as his team for the 2027 FIA Formula 3 Championship, following discussions with multiple teams for his second season in the category.

After making history as the first Sri Lankan driver to compete in FIA Formula 3 in 2026, David has opted for VAR as he looks to build on his rookie campaign and take the next step in his development. 

The decision came after much deliberation and the completion of the F3 2026 season, with David ultimately selecting Van Amersfoort Racing based on the team’s approach to driver development, technical expertise and plans for his second year in the championship.

“Stepping into VAR for the 2027 FIA Formula 3 season feels like the right move at the right time. The leadership team has a clear vision, proven experience and a competitive mindset that matches how I want to operate. I’m excited to learn from them, contribute to that culture and test myself against the strongest field in junior single‑seaters. The challenge is big, but so is the opportunity. I’m ready to work, grow and deliver everything I can throughout the 2027 season.”

David’s 2026 rookie campaign included his first FIA Formula 3 podium, with a second-place finish in the Silverstone Sprint Race. Prior to F3, he finished as Vice Champion in the 2025 Euroformula Open Championship with six [06] wins, 14 podiums and three [03] pole positions.

He showed his potential in his first FIA Formula 3 season, with a strong second- place finish in the Silverstone Sprint Race. With Yevan’s 2027 race programme now confirmed, David is currently finalising his sponsorship partnerships for the season, with opportunities for brands to join his FIA Formula 3 campaign and support his continued progression on the international stage.

Yevan concluded: “The next few months are going to be really important. I’ll be working on post- season testing and preparing for the 2027 season with VAR, while also finalising the brand partners who will be joining me on this journey. I’m excited for what’s to come.”

David will begin working with Van Amersfoort Racing during the official post-season testing programme as preparations for the 2027 FIA Formula 3 Championship get underway.

About Us

Yevan David is the first Sri Lankan to compete in the FIA Formula 3 Championship and, in 2026, became the first Sri Lankan to stand on an FIA F3 podium with second place at Silverstone. His rookie season also included two fourth-place finishes at Monza and a top-ten qualifying performance in Madrid.

Previously, David made history as the first Sri Lankan to score points in both Formula 4 and Eurocup-3, secured pole position at the FIA Motorsport Games and became the first Sri Lankan multiple race winner at Formula 3 level. He is also an X30 Asian Series Champion and competed successfully in FIA- CIK karting before making his single-seater debut in the F4 UAE Series.
