HWPL to Host Peace Walking Event in Gampaha, Sri Lanka, to Promote Global Harmony

GAMPAHA, SRI LANKA Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) will host the "Smart Gampaha Citizens HWPL New Village Movement Peace Walking Event" on February 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The event will start at Saketha Reception Hall and conclude at the Gampaha Botanical Gardens, with approximately 500 participants expected to join.

This Peace Walking Event aims to bring together diverse individuals to promote peace, unity, and civic engagement within the comㅁmunity. HWPL, a globally recognized non-governmental organization with branches in over 160 countries and consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), is committed to fostering a culture of peace through grassroots initiatives and educational programs.

The event is part of HWPL’s broader mission to strengthen peace efforts in Sri Lanka through initiatives such as the Legislate Peace (LP) Program and the commemoration of the 9th anniversary of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW). The LP Program advocates for the establishment of international peace laws through the DPCW, a document comprising 10 articles and 38 clauses that outline strategies for conflict resolution, human rights protection, and international cooperation.

To advance this mission, HWPL is sending a delegation of six representatives from its Global 05 Branch to meet with government officials, educators, and civic leaders in Sri Lanka. The delegation will work to expand the LP Program, encourage peace education, and strengthen diplomatic cooperation for sustainable peace.

The main objectives of this initiative include promoting the development of the Gampaha District while embracing the values of the New Village Movement, which encourages self-reliance, cooperation, and diligent efforts for community progress.

The event also aims to increase public awareness of the importance of peace in community development and strengthen bonds among diverse cultural and social groups. A key focus is engaging youth in peace advocacy, equipping them to be future leaders in promoting global harmony.

The Peace Walking Event will feature banners, flags, and messages advocating unity, followed by discussions on peace-building and civic responsibility. Local organizations, educational institutions, and civic leaders will collaborate to support sustainable peace initiatives, ensuring the event’s lasting impact. Media coverage and social outreach will further amplify the message beyond Sri Lanka.

By advocating for legal frameworks that promote peace and integrating peace education into national curricula, the LP Program seeks to create long-term solutions for conflict prevention and reconciliation. HWPL invites institutions, organizations, and individuals to collaborate in making this event a success by joining peace advocacy efforts, mobilizing support, and participating in policy discussions.

The "Smart Gampaha Citizens HWPL New Village Movement Peace Walking Event" aspires to leave a lasting impact by fostering peace, unity, and cooperation. HWPL encourages all stakeholders to take part in this meaningful initiative and help build a more peaceful society.
