SriLankan Airlines Denies Claims of Cybersecurity Breach
SriLankan Airlines denies cybersecurity breach allegations, confirming no established unauthorised access, data extraction, operational disruption or ransom demand.
Airline says investigations found no unauthorised access, data theft, ransom demand or disruption to operations
SriLankan Airlines has categorically denied recent media reports and public statements alleging that its information technology (IT) systems were hacked, hijacked or compromised, insisting that its systems are not under the control of hackers.
The allegations relate to a cyber claim published externally on June 29, 2026, which alleged that the airline’s IT systems had been breached.
Upon becoming aware of the claim, SriLankan Airlines immediately initiated investigations, technical assessments and precautionary measures to examine the allegations and safeguard its systems.
According to the airline, the findings did not establish any unauthorised access to its internal IT environment or operational systems, compromise of information assets, unauthorised data extraction, or disruption to its services and operational continuity.
The airline further confirmed that its systems and services, including email services, have remained operational without disruption. It said there had been no impact on its operations or continuity of services at any point.
SriLankan Airlines also stated that it had not received any ransom demand from the alleged party, whether in Bitcoin, US dollars or any other form. It added that no ransom-related negotiations had taken place.
In view of these findings, the national carrier firmly rejected allegations that its systems had been taken over or remained under the control of hackers.
SriLankan Airlines reiterated its commitment to safeguarding its information systems and maintaining the reliability and continuity of its services for passengers, employees and business partners.
